LA LIAISON CODE OF CONDUCT

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, La Liaison recognizes a special responsibility to serve the public interest. As an entity with duties dealing with children, we recognize heightened responsibility, and are dedicated to conducting ourselves with the highest degree of integrity in support of our objective and upholding the good reputation of La Liaison and Lycée Français.

This is the common duty and responsibility of all Board Members. All board members must adhere to these standards to be fit to serve:

  1. Recognize that the chief function of the La Liaison PTO is to serve the best interests of Lycée Français de la Nouvelle-Orléans school. Board Members are expected to work cooperatively with school staff and administrators.
  2. Treat others with dignity and respect online and in person, and not make or publish statements that may undermine the public confidence or damage the reputation of the organization or the school.
  3. Act in the best interest of the organization as a whole, putting the best interests of the entire organization ahead of individual desires.
  4. Refrain from using one’s position for personal or political advantage.
  5. Be a good ambassador. Look for opportunities to introduce yourself to parents and teachers, ask for their input, and invite them to help. Do not engage in gossip and try to proactively address rumors and misunderstandings. Look for ways to improve rather than pointing fingers.
  6. Speak up when you have questions or disagree, but support the final decision of the Board. Once an issue has been decided, support it and defend it. We may make mistakes, but we do so in good faith with the best interests of all children at heart.
